Volunteer Spotlight: Kylah Welch

At just 17 years old, Kylah Welch has already made an indelible mark on the Peterborough community. A tireless and passionate volunteer, Kylah leads by example – whether she’s coaching youth soccer, supporting charitable causes, or organizing community initiatives through her school.

What’s most remarkable about Kylah goes beyond the number of hours she dedicates. It’s the joy, compassion, and sense of purpose she brings to every moment.

On the Field and Beyond

Kylah volunteers year-round with the Peterborough Youth Soccer Club, often coaching multiple youth teams at once. She doesn’t just show up for practices and games – she’s there for everything: special events, tournaments, end-of-season celebrations, and even the behind-the-scenes work like organizing equipment and uniforms.

And somehow, she does it all while still playing and refereeing herself.

Her young players don’t just learn soccer from Kylah – they learn teamwork, dedication, and the value of showing up for others.

Service Rooted in Empathy

Kylah’s drive to help others reaches far beyond the soccer pitch. This past winter, she raised funds to create dozens of winter survival kits for members of the local homeless community. She thoughtfully assembled the kits herself and partnered with Street Level Advocacy to make sure they reached those in greatest need.

She participates in charity walks, community events, and fundraisers whenever she can. At school, she serves as Vice President of the Social Justice Group, helping to lead toy drives, food drives, and clothing drives that make a real difference in the lives of others.

A Role Model in Every Sense

Whether she’s organizing a kit, coaching a game, or leading a student campaign, Kylah brings a positive attitude, a heart full of compassion, and an unwavering dedication to helping those around her.

As her nominator put it:
“Kylah’s dedication to volunteering within the community at her age is inspiring. She is an incredible role model for the young players she coaches and those around her in general. Kylah is always willing to help and loves every moment of her volunteer work.”

Thank you, Kylah, for showing us that leadership, kindness, and impact have no age limit. You are a shining example of youth empowerment, and our community is better because of you.

Nominated by Alyssa Welch.
