About Us

Rising Above takes a holistic approach to recovery not by addressing the addiction itself, but by addressing the pain that fuels the addiction. Destructive behaviors always stem from pain and trauma and it is the pain and trauma that these behaviors, such as addiction, are attempting to mask. We must ask ourselves “not why the addiction, but why the pain.” Rising Above focuses on that pain in the clients we serve so that they can experience true and lasting freedom.

Rising Above is an abstinence-based treatment facility in Peterborough, Ontario, offering a Christian-based 6-Month Residential Treatment program to individuals trapped in a Cycle of Defeat. This program helps to address a wide range of issues. Substance abuse is the most common, but the program also addresses anger issues, patterns of homelessness and criminal behavior, deep rooted shame, anxiety, and any other forms of bondage a person may be struggling in.

Throughout the 6-month program, individuals will have the opportunity to build coping skills, strengthen resiliency, gain knowledge and practical tools in the Life-Skills classes, and have a safe space to work on deep rooted issues which are always based in pain and trauma.
