Organization Summary
Formed in 1940, the Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) is an active naturalist club advocating for the stewardship, projection, appreciation and understanding of local flora, fauna and their habitats in Peterborough County and beyond. PFN is a non-profit charity committed to educating its members, including Junior Naturalists, and the public about our natural heritage in Peterborough and beyond. We advocate for the stewardship, protection appreciation and understanding of local flora, fauna and their habitats in Peterborough County.

About Us
Numerous outings are held throughout the year focusing on different flora and fauna such as birds, wild flowers, ferns, mushrooms, lichens and wildlife tracking. The “Orchid”, our newsletter is very informative and available to read online on our website. The club has an active social media presence with followers from all over Ontario and beyond. Multiple donations have been made to conservation projects over the years such as the Kawartha Land Trust and the Turtle Conservation Centre.
The PFN offers monthly meetings with intriguing subjects and speakers available in person with refreshments or on zoom. Numerous outings are held throughout the year focusing on different flora and fauna such as birds, wild flowers, ferns, mushrooms, lichens and wildlife tracking. Junior Naturalists meet regularly and introduce young people to nature. The Orchid, our interesting and informative members’ newsletter is published 9 times a year and is available on our website.
