About Us
Pet Rock Radio is Peterborough, Ontario’s online home for alternative and indie music. We blend nostalgic favourites with modern digital formats to create a unique listening experience. Further, we’re built as a community hub for anyone who loves music, indie hits, and locally-driven media. Our format is alternative and rock, streaming in English from petrockradio.ca.
What we do day to day is simple: champion independent music. Our station runs daily programming with DJs across different time slots — including the New Music Top 40, the Morning Show, and themed shows like Bad Music Club and The P.O. Box Radio Show.
Beyond the stream, we host live community events like Band Wars. Finally, we present the New Music Awards. This annual night celebrates independent music from Peterborough and area with 17 categories and local performances. Artists have shouted us out for “hosting this killer event and supporting independent music”, and that’s the reputation we work to keep.
Why volunteer?
Because everything we do is community-powered. We’re growing a volunteer team to:
• host pre-recorded on-air shifts and co-produce shows
• run sound, streaming tech, and studio setup for live events
• photograph, film, and post social content
• help with the New Music Awards, Band Wars nights, and community outreach
• and connect with local artists
No broadcast experience needed since we train you on the, the basics of live radio. If you love music, like meeting people, and want hands-on experience in a station that actually puts Peterborough artists first, you’ll fit right in.
Come help us keep independent music loud in Peterborough.
