Goals & Objectives
Food Cupboard Volunteer Role
YES provides three meals every day to youth and families in shelter. The organization also provides food boxes to clients in the community. In addition, YES offers healthy snacks to people who come to the door in need.
Food cupboard volunteers help make these food security services possible. They support the team by accepting donations, organizing shelves, preparing food boxes, sharing extra food, giving out snacks, and helping with kitchen tasks.
Goals and Objectives
The main goal of this role is to keep the food cupboard clean, organized, and ready to support clients. Volunteers help put food donations away, check supplies, organize shelves, and prepare food boxes for the food box program.
This role also helps YES use food donations well. For example, volunteers may help redistribute food that cannot be used on-site. As a result, more food can reach people who need support.
Community Impact
This opportunity supports food security in Peterborough. Many youth, families, and community members rely on YES for meals, food boxes, and snacks. Therefore, volunteer support helps the organization respond to daily needs in a caring and practical way.
By helping in the food cupboard, volunteers make it easier for staff to serve clients quickly and respectfully. They also help create a safer, cleaner, and more welcoming space for people accessing support.
Volunteer Outcomes
Volunteers can build skills in organization, teamwork, food handling, communication, and community service. They may also gain experience in a non-profit setting while supporting people facing food insecurity.
This role is a good fit for someone who is dependable, organized, and comfortable helping with hands-on tasks. It is also a meaningful way to give back and support local youth, families, and community members.
