Goals & Objectives
The pandemic changed many things about how spiritual communities come together to worship. In the early days, we sought a way to connect actively in real time, not just passively watching a service. As society began to reopen, we recognized how we could extend and expand our reach through weekly services which were broadcast through Zoom, streamed to YouTube and subsequently archived on our website. Three years later, this synchronous, interactive element of our virtual outreach continues to be an important aspect for our church community. What this means for St. Paul’s however is an additional task each week and this is where we need the extra assistance.
The objective we look to meet in engaging volunteers is to have a dedicated group to call upon to ensure the continuity of this part of our worship. St. Paul’s has a Technology Committee / Team who takes the lead in this, but extra hands make for lighter work for everyone. By expanding our volunteer team, we can continue to provide enriching virtual services to a wider faith community, ensuring a consistent presence each week.
Community Impact
The impact created within the community through the work of these volunteers is wide-spread. Not only are we at St. Paul’s able to provide engaging worship services to our in-person congregation through the use of enhanced audio / visual participation. We are positioned to extend our reach to many others who are searching for meaning and a relationship with God. This aspect of our worship also allows us to reach members of the community who are not physically able to attend in-person church services but seek to continue their active participation in a faith congregation. The extended impact on our community is an increased awareness of St. Paul’s as a place where you can explore the deeper questions of faith, while becoming involved with a network of believers who seek to make our local and global communities stronger and more inclusive.
Volunteer Outcomes
Through their participation with St. Paul’s technology team, volunteers will develop skills in the operation of basic audio / visual equipment, electronic communication platforms and team work. Individuals with existing skills and interests in technology and its ability to bring people together in a common purpose will find an opportunity to enhance their skills and enjoy the pride of seeing their talents contribute to the growth of their community.
